The Taff Trail is one of the most popular cycling routes in Wales. It is mainly a flat trail and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Its full length is 55miles and runs from Cardiff Bay to Brecon. One of our most popular sections runs from Cardiff Bay to Radyr Weir with a detour to the top of Caerphilly Mountain; see video and details below.
You can hire a Hybrid or regular Mountain Bike suitable for these trails. We operate close to Cardiff City Centre and you can cycle in either direction, towards Cardiff Bay or Caerphilly mountain, or run the whole route!
Cardiff City Centre to Caerphilly Mountain and return (approx 16 miles with uphill section (2-3hrs)
This is fantastic and fun filled downhill route from Cardiff City Centre to the top of Caerphilly Mountain with a great view of the City of Cardiff. On a clear day you can see the whole city spread out before you and can clearly make out the islands of Flat holm and Steep holm in the distance.
The return journey on this route is an excellent downhill descent through some beautiful woodland and runs directly past Castle Coch the 19th Century Fairytale Gothic castle.
After this downhill section you then join the “Taff Trail” an established bike trail that leads all the way into the heart of the City Centre, the rest of this route is entirely downhill or flat.
Cardiff City Centre to Cardiff Bay Circular Tour- approx 10 Miles (2-hrs)
Following the “Taff Trail” and cycling past some iconic landmarks including the Principality Stadium, Millenium Centre and completed with a Circular route of Cardiff Bay this is a relatively flat and leisurely tourist trail.
To arrange a booking we require a minimum group size of four, if you do not have a minimum group size you are welcome to join one of our open events.
