Coasteering in Wales

Coasteering in Swansea (Gower), Tenby & St Davids from only £40pp!

Where is the best location for Coasteering in Wales?

Coasteering began over 100 years ago in the UK and is now proving to be the ultimate coastal adventure activity in Wales. In our opinion, the best place for Coasteering in Wales is undoubtedly the Pembrokeshire coastline in West Wales. Our Coasteering sessions take place near St Davids & Tenby.

If you are interested in Coasteering but looking for an activity closer to Cardiff or Swansea we would definitely recommend our most popular activity- Gorge Walking in Wales (also known as Canyoning in Wales) only 45 minutes from Cardiff City Centre -and 20 minutes from Swansea.

Coasteering Pembrokehire (West Wales)

Coasteering in Pembrokeshire was listed among the world’s greatest adventures in the Lonely Planet guidebook and as one of the best places to visit in the world according to the National Geographic Traveller Magazine.

The coastline is open to the Atlantic Ocean and can get some great surf, especially in the autumn and winter months, it is also littered with gullies and hidden caves to explore.

What is Coasteering?

Coasteering involves climbing, scrambling, traversing, cliff jumping and swimming in some of the most spectacular coastal regions in Wales. You’ll find yourself swimming through sea caves, climbing along untouched coastal regions and taking dramatic cliff jumps into the sea.

Our experienced coasteering guides will take you to beautiful, untouched, rugged locations along the Pembrokeshire coastline where you’ll enjoy, clean, unsullied wilderness, brimming with idyllic coves, sandy beaches and rocky headlands.

What do you wear Coasteering?

We will supply you with quality kit , in very cold conditions you will either have a winter wetsuit or a two layered system full length & shorty- min of 6mm and neoprene gloves to ensure you stay as warm as possible and fully enjoy this activity, we also provide buoyancy aids and helmets, participants will only need to bring along a pair of old trainers or boots.

Coasteering Gower -South Wales

The Gower coastline is not as suitable as Pembrokshire for Coasteering due to the following reasons:
*The Gower is tide dependent i.e. it can only be run 1 hr either side of high tide after this the tide is too far away from the headland unlike west wales.
*Jumps- One of the key ingredients and popular reasons people like Coasteering. Gower locations however do not typically have many cliff jumps unlike West Wales where most venues often have several multi level jumps.
*The headland in West Wales is littered with gullies, hidden coves etc. it is more varied and suitable for Coasteering challenges such as “the Toilet” or “the Washing Machine” etc.

Coastal Scrambling Gower

We do however offer “Coastal Scrambling” on the Gower which is very similar to Coasteering.  It involves scrambling, traversing and climbing, you may get the opportunity to do some low level jumps should the tide be in.

If you are interested in Coasteering but looking for an activity closer to Cardiff or Swansea we would definitely recommend our most popular activity- Gorge Walking in Wales (aka Canyoning) only 45 minutes from Cardiff City Centre -and 20 minutes from Swansea.

To arrange a Coasteering booking we require a minimum group size of four, if you do not have a minimum group size you are welcome to join one of our open events.
